This is a general size recommendation for one muffler.
Refreshining your muffler packing can produce upto a 2 horse power gain (7000 to 8000 RPM) over a worn out muffler. A blown muffler can also cause drastic loss of low end response. It's recommended that you change your muffler packing every 10-15 hours to maintain your mufflers peak performance.
The more densely you pack the muffler €“ the longer it will last, better heat insulation, better performance. But will be slightly heavier and will attenuate sound levels less (increase sound).
The less densely you pack the muffler €“ the shorter the life span, less heat insulation, less performance. But will be slightly lighter and will attenuate sound levels more (decrease sound).
